By Al-Muqademi Mallam Tahiru Tijani Certain people have distinguished themselves by seeking the path of leisure and claiming that they rely on God, saying, “We do not hold onto any possessions, and we do not prepare provisions for our journeys, because the body’s sustenance will come [through God].” This is opposite to Islamic principles, for the Prophet, (peace and blessings of God be upon him), forbade throwing away wealth, and Musa, (peace and blessings of God be upon him), prepared provisions before setting out to meet al-Khiḍr, and our Prophet, (peace and blessings of God be upon him), prepared provisions before going on his hijra. And regarding this matter, this saying of God, glory to Him, has reached us, “And prepare provisions for yourself, and the best of provisions is the fear of God.” Know that the best of matters is to be moderate in all things.
